William and Mary University Acceptance Rate – William and Mary University is an NCAA Division I school located in Williamsburg, Virginia. Graduate Requirements
The admission process is no different. If you’re thinking about applying to a department in Arts & Sciences, for example, read the information on the department’s website and identify professors who are working in the field you want to study.
The same is true of admission requirements. Check each program’s website to learn exactly what needs to be submitted and when. There are different standardized test requirements for different degree programs. Don’t drive yourself crazy taking the GMAT if all you really need is the LSAT or GRE.

William and Mary University Scholarships
1693 Scholars
The 1693 Scholars Program is our most selective scholarship, providing approximately eight students in each year’s entering freshman class with extensive benefits worth the amount of in-state tuition, general fees, and room & board. Scholars work closely with distinguished faculty in order to plan their course of study and receive $5,000 to support independent projects. Finalists are notified in March when they are asked to complete additional steps in the selection process.
William & Mary Scholars
The William & Mary Scholars Award is presented to students who are achieving at a high level having overcome significant adversity and/or students who would add to the diversity of our campus. Awards are worth the amount of in-state tuition each year.
The William & Mary Scholars Undergraduate Research Experience (WMSURE) then supports William & Mary Scholars with workshops, guidance, and social opportunities designed to instill an interest in academic research. Every student who applies to William & Mary for admission is considered; there is not a separate application process or deadline.
James Monroe Scholars
The James Monroe Scholars Program offers a $3000 summer research stipend to approximately 10% of accepted freshmen, empowering selected scholars to explore an academic area of their choice.
Benefits to this program include a special housing option during freshman year, special consideration in the appointment of freshman advisors, priority course registration as an entering freshman, and the invitation to take part in additional seminars.
Additionally, both Virginia residents and out-of-state U.S. citizens or permanent residents typically have 100% of their demonstrated financial needs met through our need-based aid programs.
Rising sophomores who have done exceptionally well academically (typically a cumulative GPA of 3.8), and who were not offered the Monroe Scholar designation during the college admission process, are invited to apply for seats in the James Monroe Scholars Program through the Charles Center.
